About us
As the world gets smaller, more and more Singaporeans are
taking up the challenge to work, study and reside abroad.
Although this is an exciting opportunity, being away from
family, friends and all things familiar can sometimes be traumatic.
Thus, the Singapore Association in Belgium & Luxembourg
(SABL) was founded in February 1991 in an effort to help Singaporeans
adapt to their new environment and to provide a social scene
enabling Singaporeans to meet.
The SABL
The SABL is a non-profit organisation created to serve the
Singaporean community in Belgium and Luxembourg. Funded by
grants from the Singapore International Foundation, Contact
Singapore and membership fees, it is run entirely by volunteers.
The objectives
The main objective of the SABL is to foster a Singapore consciousness.
This is achieved through social, recreational, cultural and
educational activities organised by the SABL Executive Committee.
Together with its contacts both here and in Singapore, and
members with years of experience of living in Belgium, the
SABL also acts as a source of information, assistance and
guidance.
Furthermore, SABL's newsletter, the Merlion Roar, keeps members
updated on the latest happenings in the home countries. |
