Courses on Serial Digital Television

Courses | Costs | Notes

Serial Digital Component (SDI) is now the basic format for broadcast TV production. The intention of the UK government to switch off the analogue transmitters, although some time away, will see the steady increase in viewers with digital receivers.

Working with SDI signals presents a number of challenges that were not encountered in the analogue domain (e.g. conversation between SDI and PAL can lead to the signal being 'Out of Gamut' and rejected by broadcasters. The digital active line is one microsecond longer than in PAL and can result in a transmitter glitch).
